Noctua NF-F12 5V PWM, Premium Quiet Fan with USB Power Adaptor Cable, 4-Pin

I plugged this into the PS-5 USB port and positioned it to help extract the exhaust air from the console. The console no longer gets loud due to heating up. I just secured it with double-sided tape before building a little frame for it. It's nearly silent with decent air flow, classic Noctua.

I have a fanless firewall router that does stay relatively cool, but I wanted a little extra piece of mind. Wasn't concerned with on/off/speed control, so I have this plugged in to the usb plug on the device and its always running. Not too terribly loud, but noticeable when in server room. Keeps my octa core fanless unit runnign opnsense very cool though in open air rack. Without the fan most cores were running upwards of 50c which is fine of course; with fan seeing temps in low 30s under regular load.

First off I bought a pair of these fans for two different projects. The first is for my Asus RT-AC5300 router which alone doesn't overheat, but in effort to make the router last a long as possible this fan does an awesome job dropping the CPU temp by 20-25F to right around 108F for the CPU. Second fan I used for my laptop which I have sitting under it to blow cool air through the intake duct.. The goal here again is to keep the PC as cool as possible as well preventing the builtin laptop from kick on (one less thing to replace down the road). For both of these project I used a NOYITO 5V USB speed controller (https://amzn.to/2KkZudL) so I could control the fan speed. What is interesting about this speed controller is that is offer more power to the fan on full speed then if I had the fan connected directly into the same usb port. You would think they will be the same. As for cons, while the fans are on full speed they are loud. You can still have a normal conversation with them at 100% the sound carries from several rooms away. At 25% they are near silent, but I run them around 40-50% with is just enough to hear them but not annoying. Second the color is odd and I'm not a fan of them....I'm sure that is to make them unique. In summary quality fans and I would recommend them.
