💡 How to pick a CPU cooler
What to look for:
  • TDP rating must exceed your CPU's TDP
  • Socket compatibility (AM5, LGA1851, etc.)
  • Fits within your case's cooler height limit
💰 Air coolers are reliable and quiet. AIO liquid coolers handle high-TDP CPUs best

★★★★★Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 White CPU Cooler.
First Impressions Right out of the box, the white aesthetic is clean and minimalist, perfect for anyone running a white-themed build. The build quality feels solid—heat pipes are well-machined, and the dual-tower design looks promising for good thermal dissipation. Dual PWM fans are a nice touch, but I’m curious how they compare noise-wise to competitors like Noctua or Be Quiet!. Installation & Compatibility Mounting system is decent but not the absolute easiest I’ve used. If you’re new to installing large air coolers, it might take a few tries to get the pressure even across the CPU. Compatible with AM5, AM4, and Intel LGA sockets (1700/1851/1200, etc.), so no concerns there. Height (157mm) means it should fit in most mid and full-sized ATX cases, but check clearance for RAM height if you're using tall DIMMs. Cooling Performance Thermals are impressive—I ran stress tests on an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Intel i7-13700K and saw temps well within acceptable ranges. It doesn’t outperform a 240mm AIO, but it comes damn close. 6 heat pipes with AGHP (Advanced Heat Pipe) tech do a great job at dissipating heat. It competes head-to-head with the Noctua NH-U12A and DeepCool Assassin III in raw cooling performance. 1500RPM fans move plenty of air while staying relatively quiet, though at full speed, they’re noticeable (but not obnoxious). Noise Levels At idle, the fans are virtually silent. Under load, noise levels ramp up but remain manageable—not as quiet as a Noctua NH-D15 but much better than budget air coolers. Value for Money At around $50-$60, this is a killer deal. You’re getting near-premium performance at a mid-range price. Competing coolers like the Noctua NH-D15 or Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 cost almost twice as much for similar cooling. Final Verdict ✅ Pros: Excellent thermal performance for the price Sleek all-white design looks amazing in themed builds Dual-tower & 6 heat pipes help with heat dissipation Great value compared to high-end air coolers Quiet under normal loads ❌ Cons: Mounting system could be better Fans get a little loud at max RPM May have RAM clearance issues in tighter builds Final Rating: 9/10 For $50-$60, this cooler is an absolute steal. It’s perfect for mid-to-high-end builds where you don’t want the hassle of an AIO but still need strong cooling. If you’re rocking a Ryzen 5000/7000 series or an Intel 12th/13th Gen CPU, this is one of the best air coolers for the money.

★★★★★Really good air cooler
Works great and seems pretty quiet even at higher speeds. No louder than like a PS5 or an Xbox when the fans are running at full speed. Comes with a splitter cable so you can run the fans together off one plug in on your board.

★★★★★Best value cooler
Undervolted 9600x, this cooler keeps it less than 60 degrees under full load with the fans at about 1000 rpm.

★★★★★Highly Recommend
Use it on a mildly overclocked i7-14600K build and it keeps temps well within limits. I put a Phantek T30-120 fan between the twin towers. The Phantek is 30mm thick versus a 25mm thick fan, thus eliminates the side airflow blowout/bypass, increasing thermal efficiency. The Phantek's higher static pressure accels in the push/pull configuration between the 2 tower fin stacks.

★★★★★Very nice, but...
It's nice. It's big. It's white. Why do they give you a black daisy chain to connect the fans to the MBA? It's like 99% of 100%. Great, but tripped at the finish line. Probably a good idea to install cooler before installing it into the case. Zero room to work on unless you have baby hands.
