💡 How to pick a CPU cooler
What to look for:
  • TDP rating must exceed your CPU's TDP
  • Socket compatibility (AM5, LGA1851, etc.)
  • Fits within your case's cooler height limit
💰 Air coolers are reliable and quiet. AIO liquid coolers handle high-TDP CPUs best

★★★★★Replaced My Old Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB With Thermalright PS120SE ARGB
I recently upgraded my system's cooling with the Thermalright PS120SE ARGB, moving from a single-fan Cooler Master air cooler hyper 212 RGB, and the difference is night and day. This dual-tower, dual-fan behemoth has completely transformed my PC's performance and acoustics. Previously, with my single-fan Cooler Master cooler Hyper 212 RGB, I was constantly battling high temperatures, especially under load. My CPU would frequently hit uncomfortably high temperatures during gaming sessions and productivity tasks, which was a constant source of worry. The single fan, trying to keep up, was also incredibly noisy, sounding like a jet engine lol when the heat started to build up. The jump to a dual-tower design with two 120mm fans immediately paid off. My temperatures have dropped dramatically across the board. Under the same heavy workloads that used to push my old cooler to its limits, my CPU now runs significantly cooler, often staying in a temperature range I never thought possible with an air cooler. But what truly surprised me was the NOISE LEVEL. The Thermalright PS120SE is whisper-quiet, even when the fans ramp up. The two fans work in tandem to provide airflow without the high-pitched whine that plagued my old Air Cooler Master hyper 212 RGB. The combination of quiet operation and stellar cooling performance is a fantastic one-two punch that makes my gaming experience so much more enjoyable. The ARGB lighting is a nice bonus, adding a touch of style to my build. But at the end of the day, it's the raw cooling power and near-silent operation that make this cooler a truly worthwhile investment. The Thermalright PS120SE ARGB has proven that you don't need a liquid cooler to achieve top-tier performance and quiet operation. For anyone looking to dramatically improve their CPU's cooling and reduce system noise, I can't recommend this cooler enough! seriously buy it! youll thank this review later!. Despite its imposing size, the installation process for the Thermalright PS120SE ARGB is quite straightforward. It comes with clear, step-by-step instructions and mounting hardware. The brackets and screws are well-made and fit securely. While aligning the screws can be a little tricky at first, following the instructions and tightening them a little at a time in a criss-cross pattern makes the process much easier. The fans are also simple to clip on once the heatsink is in place If you also have 4 ram sticks you will have to slide your fan up juuuust a little tad bit but it won't be above the heatsink.

★★★★★Fast to Assemble, Great Performance
Note that the cooler's size means one fan will likely interfere with non low profile RAM (Vengeance LPX). The fan that interferes (if it does) can be moved slightly upwards, which will not harm performance in any meaningful way but will look a bit worse. Reasonably quick to assemble, but do pay attention to the side the thermaltake logo and heap pipes are facing. Comes with thermal paste, keep in mind the paste is very thick so you may want an old card on hand to help with application (does not need to be spread if it's a large pea size dot near the center of the cpu, the cooler spread it out once applied). The card (or any other small edged tool - plastic to avoid scratching the cpu) will help with getting the paste to stop sticking to the applicator and moving the blob to the center of the cpu! Keeps even the Ryzen 9 9950x3d at good temps up to a 78 celcius max after sustained workloads, with minimal thermal throttling (cinebench scores remain high). The cooler is overall quiet (no AIO pump whir helps), well built (lifted the relatively heavy X870E Nova with it). And the fans are PWM adjustable with RGB support using the standard ARGB header.

★★★★★fantastic CPU cooler at a fantastic price.
This is awesome I wish I'd installed it sooner. I had a Corsair AIO water cooler and it never seemed to act right. I know it was installed correctly (i've built quite a few PC's over the decades), but for example sometimes the CPU block light would come on, sometimes it wouldn't. My CPU would run hot (5800x3d) and I felt that the AIO just wasn't working well enough. It WAS working, just not as well as I thought it should. Saw this cooler on Amazon for less than $40. and on impulse picked it up, and it sat under my desk for probably more than half a year. I just never seemed to have the time to take apart my desktop and remove the AIO and install this. Well last week I got tired of feeling like I had a space heater under my desk and finally swapped them out and the difference is like night and day. For one thing it blows the hot air 'back' instead of 'up' at me, and somehow it's about 5-8 degrees cooler. Which doesn't sound like a lot but it does make a difference. Maybe I should've used a 3 fan AIO instead of a 2 fan AIO, but I was worried the larger 3 fan wouldn't fit. The desktop is running fine, temps are low, this CPU cooler looks 'cool' and everything is running fine. I wish the fan aRGB wires were just a tiny bit longer, even just an inch or two would've been better. I had to run them down behind the MB and up through the bottom to get to the right header on my ASUS mb, and the cords just barely reached. But other than that there were no issues. the RGB for them is controlled by the Armoury Crate software and I've had no issues with it. All in all it's a great cooler and I'd recommend it pretty highly.

★★★★★Strong CPU Cooler with Nice ARGB Look
This Thermalright PS120SE ARGB CPU cooler feels well-built and performs nicely. The dual 120mm fans and 7 heat pipes help keep temperatures under control, and the ARGB lighting gives the build a clean look. It’s a good option if you want solid air-cooling performance without spending too much.

★★★★★Works great, looks mostly good, instructions lacking
Most importantly, keeps my CPU cool. I have a Ryzen 5 7600X which already burns hot and this keeps temps in place. The included thermal paste was good, wish I had realized it was in there before I bought some. Installs easily, although since one side has more heat pipes than the other, I spent way too long trying to figure out which way it was supposed to go (never actually did so I just installed it). The RGB on the fan is cool if you are into RGB. I didn't care but my case came with RGB fans and luckily the RGB pattern matches well with the case fans. The instructions are very lacking and there are surprisingly not as many YouTube videos on it. Unfortunately, the logo sticker on the fan is not centered and I notice it quite often and it really drives my wife crazy when she sees is. But I never think about taking it off when I'm not actively working on something. IT WILL ABSOLUTELY INTERFERE WITH YOUR RAM. Just know, your RAM and the fan compete for space. You can change the fan layout so the fan is pulling air instead of pushing air onto the heat pipes but who wants to do that. You can raise the fan over the RAM sticks but depending on the height of the RAM and your case size, it may not fit. My first RAM were RGB but one stick was bad. I got lucky though and found a set that was better priced and better specs that were also low profile and not RGB so my fan is only a little higher than the heat pips and doesn't bother me. I'd definitely buy it again if I built another PC.
