💡 How to pick a processor
What to look for:
  • Socket must match your motherboard (AM5 for new AMD, LGA1851 for new Intel)
  • Core count and clock speed for performance
  • TDP (wattage) affects cooling needs
💰 Budget builds: under $200. Mainstream gaming: $250-$400. Enthusiast: $500+

★★★★★Great value!
Significant and noticeable performance increase from a Ryzen 5 2600. As many reviews have explained, I don't know why Amazon shipped this out in a plastic bag as opposed to a box- the original packaging ended up damaged, but the CPU/items packaged within were OK and undamaged. I didn't use the included fan with this model, but I did use the included fan with my 2600. The fan is noisy and not the most efficient, and with this CPU, you'll want something a bit more efficient to get the most out of it. I run it with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Vision MAX and can consistently run an overclocked 4.4Ghz at safe temperatures without problems. For those worried about the seller not being official/"Amazon," the chip IS legit. Well worth the performance for the price you pay.

★★★★★It works 😄
I was doing just fine with the R5 5500 I just needed a bump to pcie4 for my new GPU and nvme drives . Got it at decent price. It won't turn your PC into a super computer but its adequate for my needs , it's speedy and doesn't bottleneck my system. If you can afford an x3d cpu by all means get that but if you're on a budget , this is where you can start your build.

★★★★★All Killer No Filler
Let’s just say it up front: if you’re building a mid-range gaming PC, a light workstation, or even a home lab test bench, the Ryzen 5 5600 is still one of the smartest buys you can make in 2025. This chip came out as a "budget refresh" under the 5600X, but guess what? It performs 95% as well for less money—and that’s a win in my book. I’ve used this in three different builds: A gaming rig with a 3060 Ti and 32GB RAM (runs everything at 1080p/1440p like butter) A micro-ATX NAS/media server combo A test bench I keep at the shop with a stripped-down Linux distro for container dev And across all of them? It’s stable, fast, and ridiculously power-efficient. The 6-core, 12-thread layout handles multitasking, gaming, streaming, compiling, and even light 3D rendering without breaking a sweat. Why It’s a Beast (for the price): Base 3.5GHz, boost up to 4.4GHz—plenty fast for any modern task Unlocked for overclocking (though most people won’t need to—it's already well-tuned) AM4 socket = drop-in upgrade for tons of older B450/B550/X570 motherboards Paired with a decent cooler (like that Thermalright Assassin 👀), it runs cool and quiet Works perfectly with budget DDR4—no need to jump to DDR5 yet What Could Be Better: Doesn’t include integrated graphics—so you’ll need a GPU, even just to boot Not future-proof for AM5/DDR5 platforms—but that’s why it’s priced like a legend Stock cooler is okay… but you’re gonna want to upgrade if you're pushing this chip TL;DR: The Ryzen 5 5600 is still one of AMD’s most balanced chips ever made. It’s affordable, reliable, snappy under pressure, and perfect for gamers and builders who care more about performance per dollar than flexing on Cinebench charts. If you're building smart—and not just shiny—this is your CPU.
