I purchased this processor to replace a P4 2.8G. Although the 3.0 is faster, it only has L2 cache of 512M. Not significantly faster than my former one because running IE, the CPU useage jumps to 100% where the old one ran around 40%. Faster processor but can only handle about half of the processes at a time. Better bet is to get one with L2 of 1M. I am now upgrading to a 3.4G with 1M L2.

This CPU was to replace a 2.8Ghz Socket 478 Intel chip I had, that died due to some serious MMORPG action (which also smoked my motherboard). Got the used chip in the mail fast, replaced the motherboard, compound on the chip and replaced the heatsink, checked the fan, and it was back together in half-an-hour. RAN LIKE NEW! However, another 6-hour MMORPG night, and I fried this chip too. The chip is coming in fine, it's massive HEAT in my case that's taking them out. I ordered another of this same chip from the same vendor, did some SERIOUS case and CPU fan rework (like adding 3 more fans), and this chip performs like new! Great chip, great price, fast shipping. Also, gotta say, 'wholesalewiza2' is a great vendor.

I was amazed that this CPU was less than $10. I didn't expect it to work well, but by golly after clearing the BIOS, installing the CPU and going back into BIOS and setting it up again to recognize the new CPU.......WOW, my EIDE computer is almost as fast as my wife's SATA computer. I've been running my computer non-stop for over 2 weeks now and no problems at all. My online TV watching is no longer like a slide show and my online games play much, much faster. NOTE: This CPU was advertised as "Used - nearly new" and it has lived up to it's promise. It performs just like a new one. I will remember this seller next time I need an upgrade. March 24, 2013 - UPDATE: I have been using this CPU now since Sept 11, 2011 (1 year/6 mo's). It is still very strong and I have had absolutely NO problems with it. I can't give higher than 5 stars or I would. Great seller.
