Intel Xeon X5675

Moved to this from an i7-930 to freshen up an old system, and very happy with it. Install was simple and my midrange gigabyte MB recognized the xeon without an issue. My temps are around 28°C idle and around 42°C in game. (Running at the stock 133BClk x25 multiplier at 3.33ghz) I haven't played with overclocking but with the temps the way they are, I am expecting an easy 4.0ghz without issue. I will note that there was some TIM residue on the top, but it cleaned up with some isopropyl and a coffee filter. I will update if anything changes.

While these chips are certainly old this was a great upgrade for the server I'm running. It was well cleaned (thermal paste), well packaged and ran as expected. In fact I'm so happy that I've just purchased a second chip.

Bought two to upgrade a used Dell Poweredge R610 with Rev2 motherboard from e5620 cpu. Upgrades to bios 6.6.0 first then swapped them. No problems and works with the same cooler.

Motherboard requires bios update that is not available. Processor does nothing when installed.
