Either this was a board that was damaged by a previous customer, was returned and wasn't checked out properly by Micro Center; or it was brand new but got past MSI quality control. I wasted a couple of hours installing the board only to find the onboard LEDs indicated the processor wasn't working. Upon examination of the CPU socket I noticed two contacts that looked odd. I took a picture. On magnifying it I saw that the contacts were bent.
