Keychron K17 Max 96% Layout QMK/Launcher Ultra-Slim Wireless/Type-C Wired Mechanical Keyboard with RGB Backlit Hot-Swappable, Low-Profile Gateron Mechanical Brown Switch Compatible with Mac Windows

For context, I work from home and pivot between a windows and mac. The initial connectivity was incredibly seamless. The feel, the look, the size, the strokes are all phenomenal. I had to do no remapping even when using hot keys for a lot of my day to day stuff on both operating systems, worked with just a flip of a switch. I love the size as its smaller than a full traditional keyboard but has a full size feel. No bezel just makes it look so clean. Additionally, I tried to find other brand keyboards and they were not even remotely as seamless and luxurious as this keyboard. I cannot recommend enough!! I haven't even gotten into their native software for the hardware but I am sure that will impress me even more.

Keychron is a credible company. Watch some youtube videos and look at the extensive catalog on their website. Excellent keyboard overall. I am used to laptop keyboards and low profile standalone keyboards, so I didn't want a full-travel mechanical keyboard. This one provides the ideal key travel, allowing for fast typing and Fortnite gaming. Glad I went with the Max rather than Pro given the added sound deadening. The keys aren't particularly noisy--they're the right volume. Got the brown switches, which feel great for both primary activities I use the keyboard for. The volume knob is also very nice, and I've programmed the key just to its left to mute and unmute video calls. The 96% layout is also just right. I don't feel like I'm losing any functionality from a 100% keyboard, but it fits nicer next to my mouse pad and looks more modern.

I work from my keyboard all day and avid gamer at night/weekends for decades. I never really liked older mechanical keyboards. Long travel, noisy, etc. I always bought the flagshi model big brand name from the stores and liked that they were customizable via software. I've since grown to hate the software, lack of repairability, and support. When my last one finally started losing functionality in some keys I wanted something possibly repairable, more customizable and a solid brand. Keychron is awesome so far and this opened a whole new world for me especially the level of hardware customization. I love this size. It takes a bit of getting used to but allows me all of the keys I use daily in a smaller form factor on my desk. It is not too noisy, has a touch I like, can change or replace switches or caps and has a much more solid build than my old ones while remaining light. I have only two small complaints. The initial update for firmware took me a dozen or more attempts trying various ways to get it completed. The requirments and steps could be better. The second is that you're kind of limited on keycaps options, as the low profile graviton switches and layout are unique. Keychron has a few sets but not had any of the show through ones I want in stock. If it is really important to you to have more available options on caps this might not be the keyboard for you.

So far so good! Here is my K17 Max (RGB) and the two modifications I made to it: 1) replace the Gateron low-profile Tactile brown switches with Gateron low-profile *Silent* Reds linear switches, and 2) Womier low-profile shine-through keycaps. See video for details. Note! The knob cap CAN be easily removed and replaced/customized. It uses a D-shaped stem connector. I was not able to find this information anywhere else on the internet. I look forward to putting a custom knob on this board in the near future.

This is my most favorite keyboard! I have Apple products… and have stuck with the Apple magic keyboard, which I love. But I wanted to try mechanical keyboards because I kept hearing about how much people like them… especially those who type a lot (which I do for work, and personal as well). So I tried the Lofree Flow Lite and Logitech MX mechanical. I love low profile and that’s what I was looking for. I like them both, but they were just not what I was looking for (feel wise). However, now only does the Keychron K17 feel the BEST with typing experience, but I love the layout of the keyboard. It has a full numeric pad with a normal “0” key, not a shortened key. Plus it’s a full keyboard but just smaller (thus 96%). The size is perfect and it’s small enough to still have space for my mouse on the side. I love it and really enjoy it. This is now my go to keyboard and I get excited just to even use it.
