ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 AC Supports 3rd Gen AMD AM4 Ryzen™ / Future AMD Ryzen™ Processors Motherboard

I have been using this motherboard since August, and it has been serving me very well! It allows me to do a stable overclock to 5ghz on my 5800XT processor, and has a multitude of features that are quite useful. I bought this for around $90 back in August, and for the price, it's great value. It's got good connectivity, with many USB ports. Overall, it's a great product. One more thing: Asrock has the best customer service, especially concerning warranties and it doesn't leave you out to dry like Gigabyte or Maxsun.

I usually went with MSI motherboards but this ASRock ticked off everything I was looking for so I gave it a chance. I put a Ryzen 3500X and some Crucial memory in it, plugged it in and... nothing happened. Oops! Plugged in my graphics card and it powered up without a hitch. The B550 chipset , 4 memory slots, and cpu upgrade-ability were the key factors in choosing this motherboard, and for about $100 it was a no brainer. I ran mbr2gpt on my SSD, enabled UEFI in the BIOS settings and am all set to run Win11 now. Haven''t tried to OC it yet, will update when I do.

I picked this up as new, and you could tell from the packaging it was. I had to return a version that was labeled on good condition. This purchase was for an older processor and it needed wifi. Fortunately I had no wifi issues this time. The board is solid and the build didn't have issues. Be aware of the board's limitations. There is only one m.2 slot for ssd's. If you plan to use an APU be aware it has HDMI, no display port. There is no Bios flashback button so check the website to be sure your processor is supported, otherwise you'll need and older processor to update first. If you aren't using an X3d chip you probably good.

[REAL REVIEW] Comes with a modern BIOS & supports CPUs as late as the Ryzen 5700X, will work on all Ryzen CPUs OOTB. This is a MOBO comes from when USB-C wasn't that common, so if your front USB header relies on USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 - Type-C you will have no working USBs in your front case; Consider another case. Wifi module is also pretty bad if you're not using 5GHz, 2.4GHz used 20-40mbps of a 500mbps maximum speed resolved by using 5GHz band. If you use LAN you are unaffected by this change. Probably has the best BIOS in the industry, very modern. MOBO is surprisingly small, will not fit a cooler bigger than a ID Frozen 410 & a GPU such as the RX 9060 XT(small card), something like the thermalright spirit 120 will physically press against the card & cause damage. It is a dated, but functional board with known compromises. Just be mindful of the above before purchasing. Asrock is a Chinese Owned Company, that HQ's in Taiwan, this may be problematic for some purchasers.
