The first motherboard box arrived in what appeared to be perfect condition. However upon opening the package I noticed that the processor socket add a slight indent on one or two of the pins. This made me a bit leery but I went ahead and installed the processor (my first socket 1851 build). It gave all kind of issues. I finally decided to have it replaced and the replacement worked good --- overall very happy with the this motherboard packaged with the Intel Ultra 5, G. SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MT/s CL32-39-39-102 1.40V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM.

β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…It's a good board, but the bios software could be a lot better
For a Micro-ATX board, the GIGABYTE B860M Gaming X has a surprisingly thoughtful layout. The primary GPU slot is positioned well, thoughβ€”as with most mATX boardsβ€”you’ll need to be strategic with cable management to ensure the video card doesn't choke your airflow. The RAM slots and the primary NVMe slot were easy to access, and I really appreciated that the pin-outs were clearly labeled on the PCB, making the front-panel header setup a breeze. The BIOS Experience: This is where things got "interesting." If you are migrating an older drive, be aware that Gigabyte has moved away from Legacy Mode/CSM. I hot-swapped my existing NVMe and had a nightmare getting the board to detect it initially, despite it being formatted correctly. The BIOS GUI itself feels clunky and unintuitive compared to previous generations. I found myself relying heavily on the "Search" function just to find basic settings. If you’ve used Gigabyte for years, be prepared for a learning curve with this new interface. Summary: The hardware is reliable and the build quality is there, but the software side feels like a step backward in terms of user-friendliness. Great for a fresh Windows 11 install, but a bit of a headache for those carrying over older hardware.
