★★★★★Great item, for the value, easy BIOS and clean looks!
I’ve been using the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk for a while now, and it’s been one of those motherboards that just works without drama. It feels solidly built — the board has a good weight to it, the heatsinks are chunky, and the overall layout makes sense whether you’re installing RAM, GPUs, or storage.
In real-world use it’s been reliable. BIOS is easy to navigate, and I haven’t run into any weird quirks or stability issues. It handles both everyday tasks and more demanding workloads without fuss. Boot times are quick, and it gives you enough connectivity for most builds, with plenty of USB ports and good support for NVMe SSDs.
Thermals are handled well too. The VRM cooling feels capable, and even when the system is under load for gaming or heavy workloads, temperatures stay in a comfortable range. That gives you confidence if you want to push the processor a bit or just run things hard for long sessions.
The aesthetic is clean, too — not too flashy, but still looks nice inside a case with a window. It’s one of those boards that blends well whether you’re going for a minimalist build or something more RGB-focused.
Overall, the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk feels like a dependable choice for a mid-to-high-end AM5 build. It balances features, performance, and everyday usability in a way that makes it easy to recommend if you want a solid foundation for your PC.

★★★★★Refurbished
Got the board and missed that it was refurbished. I’ve done that one other time and was burned by it. This time it was the same experience. System unfortunately would only post for a few minutes then boot loop throwing an BIOS error about the memory.
Performed all the usual troubleshooting, replacing the RAM sticks, changing slots, loosing the timings, lowering the speed to meet specs 4800MHz, etc.
Removed RAM and CPU from the board and followed MSIs guide on updating the BIOS using their BIOS button. One thing to note is that the website provides a manual that says you need to rename the BIOS file Something.ROM? However that would not work. Moved the bios file into the root of the USB using the default name and then let the system update. That worked however the BIOS light never stopped blinking. After letting it run overnight I rebooted the system into BIOS and was able to confirm that the update did take effect. I’ve had two previous builds using MSI and genuinely like their products. This motherboard dosent change my opinion on the company but it does confirm my bias against refurbished.
Went to BestBuy and picked up a Gigabyte B650 Eagle board, installed all my components and the system booted right into Windows.
The same board at Walmart is $229 so the price is great if it works!
This is getting wordy and I’m sorry but a couple final things are that the system would reboot on its own while in the BIOS itself. All the power connectors were seated and I even took the board out to check the backing to ensure I wasn’t shorting somewhere with a loose screw or standoff. I didn’t find anything. CPU R7 7700X and Corsair RAM were both in the qualified vendor hardware list as well.
I really wanted this board! :(

★★★★★Seems like a good company to buy from
Day 1.) working with no issues, if any arise I'll make a new review.
1⅓ year later.) Mobo died when I deleted Ryzen master from my pc. Don't know how it happened, but it could not be fixed via bios flashback and I had to buy a new board. Worked well for a while tho, I'd still say it's a great product
Everything that was included "new" was here in this refurbished offering.
The board itself was very clean (no dust or damages).
Word of warning, although this review is for this specific purchase, my overall thoughts on this board vary. It's a solid performer, but the bios flash back button for emergencies is NOT the most reliable thing I've ever seen. My last board would not let me flash it so I ended up with a bricked mobo because I clicked one wrong button in ryzen master.
BUT, like I said. As for this purchase, so far so good!
