I selected the MSI B860M for my media‑center build after having a strong experience with another MSI board, and this model fit my requirements for a clean, black mATX system. The board performed well during assembly and configuration, and it pairs cleanly with an Intel Core i5 Ultra processor. It provides a modern feature set: DDR5 support, a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, 5Gb Ethernet, Wi‑Fi 7, and Gen5 M.2 capability. The screwless M.2 retention mechanism is a nice touch — it makes NVMe installation quick and tool‑free. There are a couple of layout considerations worth noting. The DDR5 DIMM slots sit very close to the LGA 1851 socket, which seems to be common on mATX boards, but it does mean you should verify your cooler’s footprint. My heatsink ended up closer to the memory than ideal. Additionally, the supplemental PCIe power connector is positioned on the opposite edge of the board from the main power connectors. Functionally it’s fine, but consolidating power inputs would have made cable routing cleaner. The BIOS is relatively minimal compared to MSI’s higher‑end boards, but it’s stable, responsive, and has a straightforward UI. Overall, if you’re looking for a reasonably priced black mATX motherboard with PCIe 5.0 support and a modern connectivity stack — suitable for gaming, a home PC, or a media‑center build — the B860M is a solid choice.

I ordered the MSI MAG B860M motherboard, and I’ve been really happy with it so far. Installation was straightforward, and the board feels well-built with plenty of ports and good VRM cooling.
