When I first heard about the new hidden-connector motherboard designs taking over the market, I knew I wanted to build with one.
The Gigabyte X870 Aorus Stealth ICE is honestly one of the nicest hidden-connector boards I have used so far. It looks super clean, has a really strong feature set, feels premium in the hand, and just makes the whole build come together in a way a normal board usually does not.
Design and Aesthetics
The first thing you notice with this board is the look. The all-white color scheme, the white connectors, and the chunky heatsinks all work together really well. If you are going for a clean showcase build, this thing absolutely nails that style.
And obviously, the big selling point is the rear-connector layout. Once everything is built, the front side just looks way cleaner than a traditional motherboard setup. You do still need a case that supports it, and you need to put a little effort into cable management on the back side, but when it all comes together, it looks incredibly clean.
Main Features
As far as features go, this board is stacked. You are getting USB4, Wi-Fi 7, PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card, PCIe 5.0 storage, DDR5 support, and multiple fast M.2 slots. So from a spec standpoint, it definitely feels like a proper high-end AM5 board and not just something that looks good in pictures.
The VRM setup is also really solid with a 16+2+2 twin digital design, which means it has no problem handling higher-end Ryzen CPUs. Pair that with the large heatsinks and the board just feels like it is built for a serious system.
What I also like is that the board is not just about the headline specs. You get four M.2 slots, dual USB4, 5GbE, and the EZ-Latch stuff that makes building a little less annoying. It has a lot of small quality-of-life features that you definitely appreciate once you start putting the system together.
Build Quality
Build quality is one of the areas where this board really stands out. The metal backplate, the large heatsinks, and the debug display all make it feel like a genuinely premium piece of hardware. Even just handling it during the build, it feels sturdy and well thought out instead of flashy but cheap.
Software
On the software side, you are dealing with Gigabyte Control Center.
The good news is that it looks pretty clean and it picked up my RGB right away, which is always nice because that is not something you can take for granted with motherboard software. The downside is that monitoring still feels a little clunky since some of the info is buried in separate sections instead of being right in front of you. It is usable, but there is definitely room for improvement.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi was actually one of the more interesting parts of the experience. The board uses a Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 module with support for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, plus Bluetooth 5.4, so on paper it is a really strong setup. The only weird part for me was that some of the more advanced stuff, like MLO, was not super obvious in the settings or software.
That said, Wi-Fi 7 only really matters if the rest of your network can take advantage of it, so your router setup is a big part of the story here. I do like that the wireless card is an M.2 module, though, because it means you still have the option to swap it later if you ever want to.
Final Conclusion
So overall, I have been really impressed with the Gigabyte X870 Aorus Stealth ICE. It gives you that super clean hidden-connector look, but it also backs it up with the kind of features and build quality you would expect from a high-end board.
For me, the biggest wins are the design, the overall build quality, the USB4 support, and just how polished the whole thing feels once the system is done. It is the kind of board that makes a lot of sense if you care about performance, but also care a lot about how your build actually looks.
My biggest complaint is still the lane-sharing situation. If you run two PCIe 5.0 M.2 drives, you lose USB4, so if keeping USB4 matters to you, it makes more sense to drop one of those drives into a PCIe 4.0 slot instead.

At the end of the day, this is a really easy board to like if you want a clean AM5 build and still want all the premium stuff.

★★★★★Fantastic motherboard with a few important quirks
TLDR: Absolutely a 5 star product with just about everything you could want, but there are a few important things to keep in mind. First off, the board is gorgeous and built like a tank. The nearly full coverage metal front and back plates make it heavy enough I was actually a bit worried someone replaced it with a brick before I opened it! All the little features to help make putting everything together easier are quite nice, and the back connect aspect allows a level of cleanness to your build that flat out isn't possible with a front or side connect motherboard. A standard ATX form factor, support for WIFI 7, Bluetooth, usb 4, front usb c, argb, pcie gen 5, and frankly more m.2 slots than any reasonable person would use, coupled with the am5 platform that still has another few generations of CPUs ahead of it means any of your needs should be covered for the foreseeable future. My build includes a 9950x3d, 64gb of ram, and a gen 5 NVME SSD and I have had absolutely no problems to speak of. Now the little things to keep in mind: Be careful setting the board down. It may be built very well, but with the connectors on the back and many of them (fan headers, argb connectors, etc) effectively just being pins sticking straight up, it would be very easy to bend a pin while doing the classic test of connecting everything outside of the case with the motherboard on its box. You could almost certainly just bend a pin back into place, but a bit of care here will save you some trouble. As this is a back connect motherboard, do make certain that your case supports it. The standoffs are all in the same places, but if the case doesn't have cutouts that extend farther under the motherboard than usual, it will be 100% impossible to connect anything on the board. Cases with large back areas for cable management are also preferred, as many cables stick straight out the back, and are rigid enough to need some space to turn. There are two ways to update the bios on this board, which is a good thing, as one of them (quick flash inside the bios) refused to work for me. The other (flashing using the button on the motherboard) worked flawlessly on the first try. Not sure if I messed something up to cause the first issue, but at least there was another way that didn't really hinder progress. One other thing not specific to this board, but that I ran into my first time building on AM5: By default, memory training happens every time you boot, and takes around a minute. There is an option to change this in the bios, and then it will only take 10 seconds or so to boot, as it will remember the memory training. That's it! If all that seems reasonable to you (as it did to me: a bit of extra work selecting parts and testing in exchange for a nearly perfectly clean and long-lasting build) then this board is a very easy recommendation!

I wanted a rear-connection motherboard for my white PC build, and found this motherboard to be gorgeous. Beautiful white and chrome aesthetic, with a little touch of RGB for flair. Nearly all of the ugly bits of a standard motherboard are either hidden under a heatsink or on the back face, the only exceptions are a few capacitors around the POST LED Display. Looking at the specs of this X870 motherboard compared to some of the high end X870E motherboards, I was a little concerned that I would be making some compromises in terms of features and OC capability, but those fears were unfounded. You will not be left wanting with this motherboard. There are plenty of OC Enthusiast features , such as the aforementioned LED Display, WiFi 7, plenty of PCIE Gen 5 lanes, and a multitude of USB, aRGB, and fan headers. There are no features lacking for me! And I am very happily surprised at how well it overclocked my 9950x3D. I got a significant performance boost with some simple PBO and Curve Optimizer settings and a mild VCore undervolt. Rock stable and plenty of thermal and power headroom left for those who want to min-max tuning and push it more. No issues with VRMs or other overheating, even with a big RTX 5090 blowing warm air over the motherboard. And did I mention it's simply gorgeous?! This paired with my Lian-Li Hydroshift II C AOI cooler means the only unsightly cable or hose is the 12v power to the GPU. Everything else is neatly tucked away. I love the all white look, it really catches the light of the RGBs. You can't go wrong with this motherboard!

★★★★★Terrible motherboard with broken power design
This is a terrible motherboard. The power delivery design is flawed — USB power cannot be disabled when the system is shut down, which causes fans to keep spinning and RGB lights to flash nonstop. Even worse, if you try to enable ErP mode, the system won’t boot once a GPU is installed. The only way to recover is by removing the CMOS battery. Official e-support never replies, live chat is closed, and phone support keeps blaming the PSU or operating system instead of acknowledging the motherboard issue. Yet the exact same problem shows up repeatedly on other Gigabyte boards. I thought a high-end model would be better, but it’s just the same story. Never buying a Gigabyte motherboard again.
