★★★★★Replacing a Gen 1 - just as good as the OG
I had a Gen 1 before this and it was my favorite mouse. I had to replace it because after years, the finish is starting to peel off under where my thumb rests and it became a sensory nightmare. I am extremely happy to find that this Gen 2 not only has a new finish, but also comes with a braided cord. For the price, this mouse is great quality. It's lightweight and just the perfect fit for my hand (size Large gloves). Functionality seems good, works just like my Gen 1 did. Only other change I've noticed so far is a brighter, more expansive underside RGB light.

★★★★★Durable and good quality. Connects like a dream
Works well and haven’t had problems for the few months I’ve had it and I’m not very careful with it lol. Feels well and the quality is obviously good from my last statement.

★★★★★Perfect gaming mouse for a great price
My mouse wheel broke on my last steel series and I bought this to replace it. I absolutely love it and the mouse sensitivity that it has the presets for is perfect for me and my gaming. And the size fits my hand perfectly as well.

★★★★★Unexpected Upgrade
Needing a new mouse to replace my scuzzed up, bafflingly-pock-marked-rubber surface Corsair that was near-impossible to clean, and had the scroll wheel start to malfunction withing months, budget only allowed for a “cheapo” one I plan to use as a backup, thus, we get to this review. Yay: + Immediately more-favourable packaging experience. I had to break the Corsair out, while this came out without any issues at all. + Very light, which may be a con to some, but I found the other one's moment of inertia to be way too high. + Smooth plastic on all surfaces but the scroll wheel, meaning it can be wiped off, and cleaned to begin with. + Much better in-hand feel to me than the previous, this being an immediate “Oo!” + On that topic, the light immediately dazzled, with me not knowing just how dim my Corsair was. + Additionally, most of the lighting on this is actually visible, being under-lit, and thus having the one feature I liked of the Razer mouse I had. + Software, on that topic, was immediately more functional, and less convoluted than Razer Synapse, or Corsair Icue. + No “Sniper” button whose border was positioned right on my thumb pad. + Clicking with anything, causes a little wave to descend down the lights, this being the first peripheral I've ever owned to have such a feature. + Only $35 Manufacturer-Suggested Retail Price. + It feels much better to click, to me. + The sensor seems to really track 1:1, which, while this means it emphasised the shortcomings of the Corsair mat I have, the cursor outright stopping in 2 zones, I have faith this annoyance will turn into an advantage with a non-coated desk mat. Meh: ~ Had a bit of an issue getting accustomed to my mouse mat at first. ~ Does not include top lighting. ~ I suspect things will get into the body from around the scroll wheel. ~ Textured Rubber wheel. ~ No side-scrolling capacity. ~ No “infinite” scrolling, either. ~ Seems – in spite of the fact the setting for lines per tick is “3” still – to scroll less of the page than my Corsair. Nay: - Nothing, amazingly. Verdict: While I expected this to be better in some fashions, it – at least to me – being better in most of them was a deep surprise, and I look forward to seeing if the keyboard of theirs I'm getting will have the same “wow” factor as this. Highly-recommended.

★★★★★If you loved the 310, you probably won't like this. GG software invades your privacy now.
Not a mouse for large hands, despite its visual appearance. It's very light weight, which isn't always a good thing. I'd prefer something a little heavier. Besides the small size, the paracord isn't a rubber cable wrapped in paracord, the wires are inside of the paracord, which is a mod some people started doing years ago. It's fine I guess. The "GG" software can apparently be turned off after you are satisfied with your profile which is saved to the mouse; it doesn't need to run all the time. However, the "GG" software itself has become a monstrosity of privacy invasive functionality. This is the primary reason for my 1 star rating. The old SteelSeries Engine isn't compatible with this mouse as it was released later. By default, screen and game capture, game auto-detection (scanning your computer for installed software), microphone recording, etc is all turned on by default. It also encourages you to create an online GG account, (which you can skip at the time of this review). Auto Run when Windows boots up is also turned on. I'd recommend you use a Virtual Machine with USB pass-through (Windows Sandbox can't do it) to install the software and configure the mouse. Either that or disconnect from the internet before installing it. This is just unacceptable and disgusting behavior by an increasing number of companies all looking to cash in on YOUR DATA. Children use these products. Reason I purchased this to begin with: I've owned the original Rival, Rival 300, and Rival 310, which has just now begun to fail on me. The mouse wheel skips and the middle mouse button double-clicks. I've tried most of the solutions and am quite familiar with how to repair mice and how the components work. Honestly I'm tired of taking mice apart to deal with the same issues that have plagued every plastic mouse since laser mice were invented. New Omron switches, feet, etc can quickly add up in cost due to markup prices unless you want to buy bulk switches. This replacement is a major disappointment. SteelSeries no longer produces the 310 so that wasn't an option. If you like this mouse, I recommend purchasing a dozen of them, because functionally perfect models of product tend to go away after a couple of years of production. They are at least still making the Apex line of keyboards. I packed this mouse up to keep it as an emergency spare, but I can't use something this small.
