★★★★★Good power. Good packaging. Good number of connectors
This power supply comes packaged well and in a nice looking retail package. It provides about 850W of power for your system and peripherals. It can handle high end video cards as well. There are a plethora of connectors so it should have everything you need for your drives, cards, fans, etc. and then some. All good!

★★★★★Chinese caps and the fan take makes a ticking noise
I’m quite suspicious of underweight PSUs: this one weighs in at a reassuring 2071g. I cracked to see what was inside. The claim “built with 100% Japanese Capacitors” is demonstrably untrue: every cap whose branding I could see says Samxon (a Chinese brand). I took a cursory look at the soldering job and what I saw looked fine. I hooked it up to a computer that can be easily powered with a 60W PSU (with a claimed rating of 850W, this PSU is overkill to to say the least). Powering it up the signs were encouraging—no smoke, no sparks, no weird noises, and no coil whine (at least none that my no-longer teenage ears could hear). What I did notice, however, is that the fan, while quiet (but not, as the product description says, “ultra-quiet”) makes a distinct ticking noise. The other thing I noticed, is unlike some PSUs that turn off the fan completely when the power draw is low, the fan kept running on this one. One final note: this PSU is not for folks needing a 12V-2x6 connector for their GPU. [Disclosure: I received this product for “free”—in quotes because the IRS considers the item’s retail value as taxable income for federal income tax purposes.
