I didn't want to go with a company that I hadn't heard of before. I have heard of Acer. It turns out these are made by a company called Biwin, and licensed by Acer to use their trademark name. This is stated on the product packaging. There is also "Biwin" brand RAM for sale on Amazon which appears to be identical for $40 less at time of writing. It seems to operate as expected at the advertised speed.
