These are SMR drives. They write a batch, stall, write a batch, stall, etc... They read quickly. So if you think you're going to get high performance out of them while writing - you aren't. Doesn't matter the RAID controller, it isn't happening! That said. They're the best bang for the buck for a mostly read-only array. I use them with an AI based camera DVR. Rarely writes and has a large cache on the raid controller. Works great for this. May also be good for a mostly read-only media server.

It isn't CMR. The bad part is, it doesn't fit in any NUK's either. Its tall for a 2.5" drive , and you will need a special enclosure. For the price point, unless you absolutely need a 2.5" form factor, you can get similar size and performance for much less. I made the mistake of not looking at the height. Bad on me. On the bright side, the seller extends the warranty- there is a card included. Drive runs WARM. Active cooling recommended. It runs 5-10 degrees warmer than a WD blue.

I just installed one of these in my Tivo Bolt VOX DVR for cable. Used MSFT, transferred data, expanded volume and retained all drive content (previously recorded shows on old drive). Working great so far. Fits perfect in the Tivo Bolt housing.

I installed a pair of these as a RAID 1 in a Dell Poweredge R610. They were recognized with the raid controller and was able to build a RAID 1 set with them. The build time is a bit time consuming (>2 days), but compared to building a RAID with similar capacity SSDs it is considerably cheaper. Unless you are doing a DB a lot of use cases won't need the performance. Unlike some of the 1 star reviews I verified that the device I was looking to use the drives supported 15mm drives. If your use case supports 15mm drives and you don't need the performance of an SSD these work pretty well.
