I bought my son a new gaming PC for Xmas, but the primary hard drive was a 256GB NVMe SSD - great for loading Windows 10 and some other programs, but not big enough to hold all his games. This seemed like a good compromise for the short term; the hybrid SSD would provide good performance for his gaming and enough supplementary storage for at least year or two, assuming he eventually needs more space. The unit was super easy to install, works like a charm and so far - has performed very well for him. Definitely a good purchase for us, and the price can't be beat. Clearly recommended.

I haven't used it enough to access the flash memory on the SSHD. But I have no complaints. It's definitely fast enough to load games off of. I installed Forza Horizon 4 on it to test it. Load times are quick. This drive completes my PC for now. 2 SSD drives and this one. And a perfect spot for it in my case! The Firecuda running around 26 degress. I can't be happier.

PROS: ~ Decent capacity for the price ~ Durable and lasts 2 years and counting ~ Trustable brand ~ Can be used on both laptop and/or desktop PCs ~ Speed is a bit faster than regular non-SSD hard drives ~ Nice labeling ~ Easy installation CONS: ~ Becomes loud as it gets used frequently for over the years ~ Not as fast as a full SSD, but will suffice ~ Discontinued ~ Shipped without original retail package because they bulk order these ~ Not really meant for gaming, but more like for other light computing tasks Overview: I actually bought 2 of these way back. This is a late review to see how long the products I purchase would last. Bought this 2 years ago in February 2020 and until now they are still working just fine. I use one for storing my movies and videos. I write to it weekly and constantly without any hiccups till this day. No problems. The other one is placed into a USB hard drive enclosure used for backing up files and documents for safe keeping. These were around $40-$50 back then at the time and it was a great deal during their flash sales or Black Friday. Too bad they are phasing out of the sata SSD factor form and going into M.2 now, but those are quite faster indeed. If you need to save money and can't afford a top SSD, then this would be a good alternative.

The extra bracket to mount it was the only thing I came across, but that's true of most SSDs I've seen, they just don't need much space. I haven't stress tested it, but my wife's ubuntu machine now boots way faster, firefox and other larger apps start up faster. I think she's happy with the result. It worked like any other Sata drive for me.

OK - so it's got a little bit of SSD as a cache but, when all said and done, it's a hard disk and performs like one. The SSD helps a little but calling is a "Solid State Hybrid ..." gives the impression that it will perform like an SSD. To be fair it is faster than a normal 7200 RPM hard disk and the price is good so if you're in the market for a fast hard disk this is a good choice. If, like me, you are looking for a pure-play SSD this is not it. I'm returning it and buying a real SSD.
