First off while I don't have an extra 2280 NVMe drive on hand yet for this adapter because I am waiting for SSDs to become cheaper as they are not at the moment as we all know, I did test this adapter in my steam deck with the 2230 NVMe that was in it to see if it will work and boot up and it did booted normally so this adapter does work as it says and is easy to install. I also did notice even when having the 2230 SSD in it with this adapter the rear panel is cooler which is because I have a different back panel on my steam deck that has a bigger vent right where the SSD drive sits which did help with the temps being cooler, so that is another pro with having this adapter if you have a different panel than stock on the back. Build quality also feels good and all the solder joints on the connector is done right. This adapter for sure will come in handy for me in the future for when I do get another 2280 NVMe drive when the value settles down for them, And another thing when SSD values were normal 2280s were cheaper than 2230 NVMe drives and best part they have higher capacity where 2230s tops out at 2TB right now, So this is a worthwhile upgrade to have for your handheld at a good price. So for me it gets a big thumbs up from me👍

I ordered another adapter about a month ago, but I wasn't impressed with it. The adapter was all one, rigid PCB, which pressed the M.2 drive against the battery. It "fit", but ended up breaking a screw (!) right below where the drive was. In the end, I decided to get this product instead. This is a FAR better design. It places the M.2 drive outside the heat shield covering the M.2 socket, so the M.2 drive ends up right against the mesh vent on my case. That's thanks to the two separate PCBs connected with a FLEXIBLE RIBBON CABLE! Imagine that! It just all fits better, so I highly recommend this.

I tried this in a PC dock as well as a Steam Deck. The storage was recognized in both cases. My only complaint is that the included screwdriver is placed in the bag with the adapter too that is can move around and scratch/damage the pins and such. So poor packaging.

Did not work for my device, this should be no different than any other m.2 drive adapter, but it is not recognized on my PC, as soon as I take the adapter out my drive works fine again, very unfortunate as I wanted a right angle adapter to run a full length drive on my handheld!

Since the 2230 size of NVMe's are less common then the 2280 size, this adapter allows you to use a much more cost effective NVME Drive in a much more standard size. The functionality worked as intended and now I'm rocking a much larger SSD without too much hassle. Be aware that upgrading the storage is a bit of an undertaking, but as long as you're up to the task this is a perfect solution!
