★★★★★Very good performance at a reasonable price, you may need to upgrade the firmware
This is a M.2 SSD with very good performance at a reasonable price. I am using quite a few of these on Raspberry Pi 5 boards (using the official Pi M.2 NVMe HAT+). Despite the Pi only having a single PCIe lane, I'm seeing over 850MByte/sec on sustained sequential writes - a huge upgrade from the 30Mbyte/sec I was getting from a SDXC card in the Pi 5's SD slot. Using the benchmark from the Pibenchmarks site, it reports a performance score of 56968 which would seem to put it in the top 20 of all of their storage benchmarks. Note that this is a cache-less card (no DRAM onboard) so it relies on a small SLC buffer as a front-end to its main TLC storage. It normally requests a HMB (host memory buffer) from the operating system. Raspberry Pi OS does not provide this, so the speeds reported above are the raw speeds writing to the card. Using this card in a system that supports HMB and with more than the one PCIe lane the Raspberry Pi 5 provides should improve performance beyond my test results. The card ships with an older version of firmware (I received one with version 12000103 and three with version 12000102). I don't know what was fixed or changed between the those and the latest 12000104 firmware, so I decided to update them all to 12000104. One potential issue is that these are Dell OEM drives, so there's no updates or support from Kioxia. However, Dell does have the latest firmware available on their web site. I believe the review rules prevent a direct link, but if you search Dell's support page for "XYVG7" you'll find the firmware revision 12000104 update. It is Windows-only and you need some way of attaching this card to your computer to do the update. I used a StarTech adapter I previously purchased from Amazon. It does not support the 2230 form factor of this card, so I used tape to hold the card in place on the board while doing the firmware update. If your system already has an M.2 slot, this will be a lot easier. I don't know if the update utility will run on a non-Dell system - I used an Optiplex 9020.

★★★★★I got it to work
The PC did not recognize the drive. Once I updated the BIOS the drive was recognize. Regular SSDs are better to install, but these smaller drives are supposed to be faster!
