First of all, the board seems cheaply built. Why is this board 200 dollars and they don't even put post lights on it so you can troubleshoot. Also the IO is one of those cheap sheet metal types you see on prebuilts. Lastly I'm going to have to completely disassemble the computer I just spent 3 hours assembling, and another 2 hours troubleshooting with Asus customer support, because the cmos battery was dead on arrival, and the onboard wifi adapter was defective. They recommended I repair or return it. I'm returning it and buying a different board. Do not buy this board if you want anything touched by quality control.

This board was completely dead from the start and wouldn't power on. I returned it. Even if it wasn't dead, it's an economy board without any of the extra features I wanted. No heat sinks or latches on the SSDs, bezel around I/O ports not attached, only 6 mounting holes vs. 9 on better boards, feels light/flimsy, no status lights or buttons on the board. As a result, I bought an ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E and all my problems were solved (I put it in the same system and used all the other parts from the build, although I had to install LAN and WiFi drivers from a USB stick during the Windows 11 install. Would not recommend the 790 MAX board, even at its lower price.

I bought this thinking it would work with gen 4 i7s right out of the box as advertised but that's not the case. I needed to put a gen 2 chip in in order to get this to post and then flash the bios in order to get it to boot with my gen 4. After flashing, this works like a charm. If you intend to use a gen 4 chip, make sure you have an earlier gen handy.
