★★★★★Great blu ray burner
First, as you can see in the image...it didn't fit as I was hoping to...but I was in a bind and needed to burn a lot of archive discs quickly. Hopefully this won't cause problems down the road.
The drive is quiet and works well, especially with Nero Burning Rom. The windows integrated software is terrible.
Will burn DVD and BD-R XL 100gb discs without problem. Keep in mind...the more ram you have, the better it performs. A 25gb disc takes about 20mins and a 100gb takes 80mins.
To save all your digital history from files to photos, I strongly recommend. But double check your mounting bay size. I am looking for an adapter if they're out there

★★★★★Works with HP 17.3" Envy touchscreen Laptop and 4k UHD disks using DVDFAb UHD drive tool.
I purchased 2 of these to replace units in 2 Hp laptops 17"3 touch screen Envys. They fit perfectly after I unscrewed the mounting tab hardware on the old drives and put them on the new ones (easy to do) The units came with version 1.03 firmware. DVDFab tool was able to downgrade them to 1.00 (you must insert a 4k disk and let it scan the disk first then start the procedure) and I was able to watch and backup my 4k movies to my movie server. Your laptop must have the correct HDMI output or display port and 4k tv as well as correct display software mentioned in other reviews). (Use Cyberlink Blu-Ray advisor to verify 4k compatibility with intel 8th generation processor on your computer though you don't have to worry about any of that if you are just making backups of your personal 4k movies to store on your server) I have not had good luck with LG 5.25 drives in desktops in the past so I am hoping these last longer than the desktop versions.

★★★★★Great Slim Blu-ray Drive – Never Fails and Works Well with MakeMKV
I’ve been buying these slim Blu-ray drives for years to use as a mobile setup inside an external USB enclosure. They have never failed me. With the proper firmware update, they work flawlessly with MakeMKV.

★★★★★It is not easy to get a PC to play Blu-Ray HD 4K
This drive was put in a media center PC and played Blu-Ray UHD 4k content perfectly. My case only accepts this size drive. Drive is noisy but I don't think it is the fault of the drive but rather the size is so small it cannot block the sound as well as a full size drive. I am going to put some foam around it inside to help block some of the noise, not worried about the heat cause in a laptop it would not get much if any cooling air in the enclosed space anyway. It is not easy to get a PC to play Blu-Ray HD 4K, had to get a new motherboard that was 100% verified to support 4K Blu-Ray, plus have a Kaby lake INTEL CPU or newer, and a new LG 4K TV . Then run the Cyberlink Blu-Ray advisor and make sure everything passes. One thing the screws that go into the side to support the drive cannot be very long or they will protrude into the drive and block the sliding of the tray in and out. These are some tiny screws so had to put some small washers under the screw heads to keep them from going into the drive as deep. My recommendation is if your case will accept a full size drive go with that, if not this drive works fine.

★★★★★Easy install, "fast drive" (for optical media) works great.
It's a BD DVD RW combo drive. You only purchase this if you are one of the dying breed that still burns or reads discs. I had a large collection of DVDs that I wanted to rip and bought this little guy for that purpose. So far, it has worked great. The OS (Win10) detected it and could start right away. I haven't done any testing and while this drive is quite "fast", the speed isn't anything to write home about. Then again, no spinning optical media truly is. It doesn't come with any software, so if you want to play BD movies, you need to supply your own. DVD playback is supported by lots of free apps, but if you are only interested in DVD burning and playback, this drive isn't for you.
