★★★★★Dependable Storage Workhorse That’s Perfect for Everyday Use
Dependable Storage Workhorse That’s Perfect for Everyday Use The Western Digital 6TB WD Blue drive has been a quiet, steady performer in my desktop setup. I use it mainly for bulk storage—photos, documents, and archived project files—and it’s proven reliable and whisper-quiet. Installation is plug-and-play; my system recognized it instantly via SATA without the need for any driver setup. Using the free Acronis cloning software from WD made transferring files from my older 2TB drive a breeze. The 5400 RPM speed isn’t blazing fast compared to SSDs or 7200 RPM drives, but it’s perfectly adequate for everyday computing and backup purposes. I’ve tested read/write speeds hovering around 150 MB/s on large files, which is consistent with its specs. It runs cool and draws very little power, ideal for systems that stay on 24/7. Western Digital’s Blue line has always been their “reliable daily driver,” and this 6TB version fits that profile well. Build quality feels solid, and there’s minimal vibration once mounted. Over several years of using WD drives in both PCs and external enclosures, I’ve found them to age gracefully with low failure rates—as long as they’re used for storage or light media work rather than constant heavy writes. A few tips: format the drive as GPT to use the full 6TB capacity, and remember this model is best suited for file storage, backups, or media—not high-speed gaming or RAID arrays (WD Black or Red drives are better for that). Bottom line: A trustworthy, quiet, and efficient hard drive for expanding desktop storage or creating large backups. It’s not the fastest, but it’s built to last and does its job without fuss.

★★★★★Quiet and Functional Storage
This is another drive that just works—no complaints on performance. A major plus is that it is very quiet compared to other HDDs I've used. Just be aware this uses SMR technology, so it's not great for heavy NAS usage, but it's perfect for standard PC storage.

★★★★★Great storage drive
I use this drive for storage my old one failed it was about 6 years old so i replaced it with this. Id originally bought a seagate 7200 rpm drive and it was showing in bios it was failing after transferring all my backed up data onto it. So i sent it back to new egg for a refund. This one had no issues and the weird thing is, its advertised as a 5400 rpm drive which is supposed to be slower but the transfer rate on the data actually seemed faster to me which is wierd. Anyway western digital is my brand of choice for mechanical hard drives. I have this internal and an external USB and theyre both great, very dependable and no issues at all. I dont think ill be using seagate again as i always seem to have problems with their drives for some reason. Maybe im just unlucky but thats about the 3rd or 4th drive ive had that had some major problem. WD drives seem to be workhorses and last virtually forever and they work straight out the box, no special drivers or settup needed, im just using generic windows drivers. I highly recommend western digital for any of your storage needs. I havent tried their SSDs but HDD they are king in my book.

★★★★Great Hard Disk Drive But A Little Slow
This is the second one I have purchased and installed on my PC. The first one I use as a back-up for my more critical files (files I don't want to lose!) and it worked great. I bought the second to replace two smalled WD Black that started having problems (they were over 10 years old). I now wish I had bought WD Black to replace them as the WD Blue is a little slow for normal applications. Slow loading times, apps will pause sometimes while drive is working, etc. So, if you want a drive to play games, do spreadsheets, or play music--better to get the faster WD Black drive. The Blue runs great, is quiet, and seems reliable. I will probably pick-up a Black version and move my apps to that. Just be aware that all drives are not the best for all uses!
