This adapter is a relatively easy install, but I recommend following a YouTube guide to help avoid any mistakes. Take your time and be careful, id recomend watching any tutorial fully before even starting. youll need a few things in addition to this, like a thermal heat sink for your SSD, PVC Tape, Fibreglass Tape and Kapten Tape to keep it in place. You're able to fit your news ssg inside the case, but you need to protect it from overheating. Also, according to the advice given by the community when choosing a new 2280 drive, stick with the slower speed drives (5gb/s) over the 7.5gb/s as they run much cooler, and there is no performance difference between the two.

This is a great product. I've been searching for the longest time for a decently priced 2230 nvme drive so that I can fit it into my Steam Deck as a replacement/upgrade drive. Unfortunately for me by the time I found this and actually got it in hand, Nandpacolypse was here in full force. I was not able to get my hands on any nvme drives. I didn't plan ahead, so now I have the ability to upgrade to a 2280 drive but no actual drive to upgrade with. Nevertheless, I opened up the Steam Deck and installed it to see how well it fits and if there are any concerns using this adapter. The adapter seems to fit with some minor adjustments, but nothing overly complicated. That's as far as I've gotten since I don't have a drive to install. I could have tried to install the original drive via the adapter, but I'm not sure I want to risk damaging my only drive if anything should go wrong. I am reluctantly waiting for the day when the prices of nvme drives return to pre-AI bubble days.

I have been using this adapter now in my handheld console for nearly 3 weeks and I can completely say this thing delivers. It converts the smaller drive port to allow you to use less expensive larger drives which can also lead to larger capacity. I was able to upgrade my 512 MB 2230 drive to a 4 TB 2280 drive which was eight times of the size of the original. I tested the drive speeds and i even noticed a significant speed increase of about 22% in both read/write. The drive does need some additional finagling to fit in your handheld and you may need some thermal pads to protect your drive but this thing works wonders. It was a great upgrade and I am very happy with my purchase. So this adapter is a great value for the money and allows you to really upgrade your handheld storage. This adapter is designed specifically for someone who wants to upgrade their handheld with a much longer and usually much larger drive at a reasonable price.
