💡 How to pick a CPU cooler
What to look for:
  • TDP rating must exceed your CPU's TDP
  • Socket compatibility (AM5, LGA1851, etc.)
  • Fits within your case's cooler height limit
💰 Air coolers are reliable and quiet. AIO liquid coolers handle high-TDP CPUs best

★★★★★Excellent for a SSF case on an i7-10700
This is a great cooler. I upgraded from a simple OEM cooler for an i7-10700 that was running around 48 C at idle and 80 C under load. Now it gets around 27 C at idle and 50 C under load in a 72 F room. The brackets were a little tricky to get right, but it helps if you actually look at the diagrams closely and put the little plastic washers on to secure the screws in place. I'm modding a SFF office desktop and appreciate the extra room the low profile fan provides. It easily clears the standard height ram. It's very quiet at lower speeds. I don't know what it sounds like at high speeds because it cools so well that my processor never gets that hot.

★★★★★Supports 9800x3d CPU easily.
This is THE low-profile cooler. 9800x3d (Kryonaut paste) in a Fractal Ridge case and RTX 5080 OC GPU. Fractal Ridge was in vertical orientation and ambient temperature was 76. Tests were with no restraints (no Eco mode) from the CPU side. Horizontal position was not possible with Fractal Case due to heat build up and recirculating of hot air. This is a side effect of the case design and not the cooler. CPU Package Temps reported by HWMonitor: Idle: 34C Cinebench Multi-Core: 76C Heaven Benchmark: 64C PUBG: 68C The CCD hit a maximum of 85.4C under extended, mixed usage of Benchmarking (running different benchmarks at the same time) while the package never went higher than 76C. CCD can run hotter than overall package. Total win for a 67mm low-profile cooler without compromising CPU speed or thermal headroom/throttling. I had used a Noctua NH-L12S and it was abysmal. It didn't fit the Gigabyte X870i Pro Ice ITX board nor the case, forcing it to be in an orientation with offset. Idle was 57C and just downloading with steam, it was hitting 95C. Several re-pastes and orientations didn't resolve the issue. And it always mounted without covering the entire CPU (regardless of offset holes they offered). To be clear, I'm sure it's a good low-profile cooler, but it just cannot handle the 9800x3d. The 4 heat pipes of the Noctua vs the 6 heat pipes of the Thermalright is night and day better. Bonus: This cooler is 1/3 the price of the Noctua and easier to mount (though the mounting system is nearly identical, the process was simply easier) with better cooling. If you have a height restriction of 70mm or less, this is a fantastic cooler that will meet your needs.

★★★★★Affordable low profile cooler that works
I bought this for my sff I built for my living room, so far it's kept my 5600x pretty cool (~ 65%), and was much cheaper than the other alternatives. I'm using a Fractal Ridge for reference and I did NOT have to adjust the power supply cord (which was another consideration). It's quiet, but it does get audible when I'm driving it hard but it's expected in such a small space, so set you expectations.

★★★★Quality Control Issues
While it works, it wasn't until after installing and using the device that I discovered that the heatsink doesn't sit 90 degrees relative to the motherboard, nor does it appear that it can be bent back. While I'm certain this shouldn't affect performance for medium-to-low end builds or applications, it is a silent reminder of Thermalright's quality control.

★★★★★Great
Low profile, fit my itx case. Decent cooling efficient. Around 70 degrees during gaming in my itx case. It also designed to leave a space for ram. Great product overall. Will recommend.
