★★★★★Works Perfectly for Upgrading Steam Deck Storage
I received this product through the Amazon Vine program, and it made upgrading my Steam Deck OLED really easy. This M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 2230 to 2280 SSD adapter worked perfectly with my 8TB NVMe drive. You do need to cut a tiny part off your heat shield to get it to fit, and it is important to use the included tape to isolate the NVMe from the battery for safety. Once installed, everything fit snugly, and the drive was recognized immediately without any issues. The adapter feels solid and well-made, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do, giving you the flexibility to use a larger SSD in your Steam Deck. Overall, this is a reliable and simple solution if you want to expand your Steam Deck storage, just make sure to follow the small installation notes for a safe setup.

★★★★★Everything You Need for a Professional Mod
I love that this comes as a complete kit. The included black heat pad and double-sided tape made the installation feel very secure. It fits snugly in the 2230 bay, and the build quality of the circuit board is top-notch—very stable connections with no crashes so far. I followed the advice to test the drive before fully closing up the case, and it worked on the first try. It’s a very satisfying DIY project that turns the Steam Deck into a high-capacity beast.

★★★★I'm able to use my own drive, but it's a tight fit
I love the idea of the Steam Deck because it not only allowed PC gaming on the go, but with a standardize device, game developers can optimize their games for a specific platform, just like game consoles. I also like that it encourages game companies to actually make their games available to lower-powered PCs, which helps gamers like me who just can't afford to upgrade our hardware every year. The Deck only supports the 2230 M.2 drive, though. This is the smallest form factor for an M.2 drive and with that size, there's an upcharge. I had an extra 2280 Nvme drive that I took out from an older laptop and I needed this adapter to make it work with the Steam Deck. Installation was straightforward. Take off the back cover, remove the original drive, and install this adapter. The ribbon cable makes a 90 degree turn, allowing for the drive to fit into the small amount of available space between the back cover and the battery. Obviously, heat can become an issue with this setup so make sure to put some non-conductive heat pads on both sides of your drive and carefully put everything back together. Make sure you follow the instructions, of course.

★★★★★Worked perfectly!
Well designed and worked perfectly for upgrading the storage in my Steam Deck. Take care that you understand what's involved with the undertaking of upgrading your storage, but other than that, this board made it easy to upgrade storage to a much larger SSD.

★★★★★2230 to 2280: Steam Deck's Storage Glow-Up
I grabbed this M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 adapter to adapt my Steam Deck OLED from the stock 2230 SSD to a bigger 2280 drive, and it was a straightforward install BUT, you better know what you are doing before you do this. Installation was simple—pop out the back cover, swap the SSD size with this converter board. No soldering, no janky mods, just clean plug-and-play for high-capacity storage upgrades. If you're not handy this can be intimidating because there's no instructions included. I would suggest doing your clone on a different machine before you reassemble. The board itself holds the SSD in place, so be sure that you USE THE SCREW THAT COMES WITH THE KIT because the head is larger and will secure the 2280 a little better. If you have a screw kit, use your biggest m.2 head so that it doesn't wiggle and destroy your slot. If you're comfortable cracking open your OLED deck and want double (or more) the storage without buying a whole new Deck, this adapter will work.
